1) A slip on is a muffler only, not the head pipe.
2)As for lowering the profile I think any of the aftermarket mufflers are smaller than the stock one.
3)Most of the aftermarket mufflers are louder than the stock. I don't know what the leagal limit is in CA so I can't answer that part.
4)The Jardine is a good looking muffler and sounds good too. Though it rusts pretty quick. I've never had any experience with the supertrapp. The muffler I have now is my favorite yet, it's a stock harley muffler with a 3/4inch hole knocked through the baffle. Not to loud and the chrome is excelent. It just takes a little more work to do a custom install.
